“This was one of the first abstract portraits I ever made because it just made so much sense to take apart one of the classic Warhol polaroids and the subject is a guy who incorporated abstraction and primativism into his work like me. I’ve made countless Basquiat originals with this form but this one is an outlier in terms of wierdness. I’m not even sure I like it, but I know it resonates with people so must be included in this twelve portrait collection of my Basquiats.”
This print is made to order, just for you. This allows us to offer a much wider selection of Mike's work in multiple sizes with the downside being that it will take a few days to ship out. Most print orders will ship in 3-5 business days (a week or less). If you are also ordering original art you can expect that to be hand packed and shipped by Mike immediately and the orders will arrive separately.
This is an official limited Mike Wehner art print, only 125 total prints will be made and they are printed on musuem quality matte fine art paper. This print will ship in a tube, unframed. Mike uses the MW monogram as his signature and it is sometimes hidden int he piece. This edition is not numbered, Mike doesn’t want the later prints to feel bad about themselves and feels it’s an antiquated convention.. The technical details of the paper can be found below.
